    LOAD PASSES

The strength of a well-thought-out design

The use of highly wear-resistant aggregates gives our systems a guarantee of resistance: chemical resistance, impact resistance, resistance to sudden temperature changes and, above all, abrasion resistance.

The FABAC test subjected ten surfacing samples to three million load cycles using a dual-wheel half-axle loaded to 65 kN. An intensity equivalent to 200 daily passes of heavy vehicles —bus type— over 30 years.

    Specific control for every project

At BYOND we check the slip resistance of the solution planned for each project. Before execution we prepare a sample with the configuration, aggregate and finish defined for that project.

The test measures slip resistance through the friction produced between a standardised rubber slider and the pavement surface.

The result depends on texture, roughness, finish, aggregate, moisture, wear and the surface's water evacuation capacity.

    Control tailored to each project

Every project is checked with its own sample. For this reason, no generic result applicable to all solutions is used.

    MEASURING TO MOVE FORWARD

Testing lets us understand and document how Zoruflex behaves. Studies have been carried out on its environmental and acoustic characteristics, including CO₂ adsorption, interaction with NOx and noise measurements in public spaces.

    CO₂ · NOx

CO₂ adsorption and action on NOx

Zoruflex offers solutions able to reduce CO₂ and NOx concentration at surface level. Its photocatalytic and catalytic action interacts chemically with NOx, promoting their removal from the environment and helping maintain a healthier setting. It also incorporates catalytic modulators that act both by day and by night.

To study its CO₂ adsorption capacity, PAV semi FIX samples in Pink, Green and Grey were analysed by the Research Technical Services of the University of Alicante.

The test was carried out with a Quantachrome AUTOSORB 6B automatic volumetric adsorption unit, obtaining the adsorption isotherms of the different samples.

    URBAN ACOUSTICS

    Acoustic behaviour

Noise is a highly polluting element, especially relevant within urban centres. Zoruflex offers an acoustic pavement solution aimed at reducing the noise generated by urban surfaces.

Measurements are taken in public spaces before and after treatment with Zoruflex products. The study compares a street treated with Zoruflex against a surface with loose pavers.

The graphs show the reduction in noise levels after treatment and make it possible to verify the improved acoustic behaviour of the surface.

    TRAFFIC & WEAR · 01

    Traffic and wear resistance

Zoruflex's behaviour under traffic depends on the applied system, thickness and substrate. The lines designed for circulation (Zoruflex Tráfico, Continuo and Preformado) use high-hardness layers and aggregates to resist wear from rolling, braking and repeated manoeuvres.

    • Wearing courses formulated with aggregates selected by use.
    • Mechanical behaviour matched to project loads.
    • Thickness and composition defined by the system datasheet.
    • Visual and functional validation in works executed in the Canarias.
    MECHANICS · 02

    Mechanical behaviour

The system combines MMA resins or specific binders with calibrated aggregates. This combination responds to compression, abrasion and fatigue while keeping surface integrity under continuous use.

    • Substrate adhesion handled at the priming stage.
    • Capacity to absorb micro-deformations depending on the system.
    • Resistance to point impacts in heavy-use areas.
    • Definitive figures in each line's datasheet.
    FRICTION & SAFETY · 03

    Friction and use safety

    TRAFFIC SIMULATION · 04

    Traffic simulation testing

Selected Zoruflex lines have been evaluated on FABAC-type traffic simulators, replicating load and braking cycles equivalent to years of real use. These tests validate system durability before large-scale application.

    IN-HOUSE R&D

Behind every figure there is a technical team and our own R&D centre.

We formulate, weigh, mix and test every system before it reaches the site. Instrumental control of viscosity, dosing and curing lets us tune each formula to the climate, the substrate and the intended use in the Canary Islands.

That in-house work is why test values and on-site behaviour match: same materials, same criteria and full traceability from the sample to the square metres installed.
